My son loves funky shoes. If I pick out a pair of plain color shoes when we go shopping he always shakes his head no and goes straight to the ones with character. When he received his pair of Zipz shoes he was thrilled to see they weren’t boring. Mom actually has a little fashion sense when it comes to a 9 year old’s style!
The idea for Zipz shoes started at a family BBQ when kids were playing dress up and getting their shoes dirty. The mothers expressed frustration from having to buy multiple pairs for dress up or change their children’s shoes during the day when they were dirty. Jerry Stefani, the owner of Zipz, proposed an idea of interchangable shoes that would solve these problems. It took several years and prototypes including “Marshmallow Skins” before Zipz went to market in 2009.
According to Zipz Shoes, they are the world’s first and only fully interchangeable shoe system that allows you the ability to change the “cover”, or top of the shoe, with the “soul”, or bottom of the shoe. There are numerous collections, styles, patterns, and colors to choose from allowing you to make a personal fashion statement every day of the week. The shoes also use YKK zippers for strength and durability and include a lifetime warranty against defects. The cover are also machine washable and preshrunk so you can wear a pair and have one in the washer at the time!
We received a pair of black with white spiders in a size 4 that fit just right and weren’t too big or small. They come in Adult (5-13) and Youth (12-4) but it would be great if they had half sizes since we are often in between sizes. The shoes have a nice thick sole which reminds me of basketball shoes from the ’80s that we used to wear. To change the design, you simply unzip the cover and zip the new cover over the sole or “soul”. Simple as that! He liked being able to wear a slip on shoe which he’s never tried before or changing them out for the lace ups to go outside and play. He was also excited to learn that these are shoes the participants in the X-Games wear since Zipz is a partner. He loves to skateboard and do tricks and he watched the games with his older brother over the summer. He’s excited to watch in January to see if any of them are wearing his shoes!
Are you ready to win a pair of Zipz shoes and mark someone off your holiday shopping list? US only 18+. Ends 11/27.
