This picture is of the ravioli before I put it in the oven. When I took it out my hubs dug into it and it got pretty messy!

Baked Ravioli

Author: Megan
I love pasta. I mean I LOVE pasta. I seriously think I must have been from Italy in a past life or something. So, I always have some sort of pasta in my freezer and pantry. I never said I MAKE pasta; I just love to eat it. There is nothing better to me than a steaming hot bowl of something Italian on a cold night. So, on a day when all else fails, the easiest dinner to throw together with ingredients I always have on hand is baked ravioli. It truly does not get any easier than this!
Ingredients
  • 1 24oz (or so) bag of frozen ravioli, any flavor – we prefer the small round ones, either filled with just cheese or with chicken, but we’ve eaten and enjoyed sausage stuffed as well as mushroom
  • 1 24oz jar of spaghetti sauce, again, any flavor works
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • ½ lb (optional) ground beef or Italian sausage – we enjoy adding the meat especially when we use the plain cheese ravioli
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. If you want to add meat, go ahead and brown that up first. We usually add some minced onion and salt and pepper to ours. Season however you see fit. Drain and return to pan and stir in the spaghetti sauce. If you don’t want the added meat, start here: Pour enough sauce in a 9×13 baking dish to cover the bottom. Dump in your bag of ravioli. Spread it out evenly; try not to have more than two on top of each other. Top with the remaining sauce. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese on top. Cover with foil and pop in the oven. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 3-5 more minutes until cheese is all melty and golden.
Notes

Sometimes I sprinkle a little extra grated parmesan cheese on top when I serve it. We usually have a big tossed salad and cheesy garlic bread with our ravioli dinner.
Depending on how large your family is, this recipe will leave you with a ton of leftovers. They are all kinds of yummy as far as leftovers go, but you can also cut the recipe in half successfully. Be sure to use the same oven temperature and still bake for 30 min. Enjoy!!

Oh this sounds good. I’ve never baked ravioli before, so I’ll have to give it a try.
