I love cute children’s toys and items. I especially like when they’re geared to help children in the dark and in the morning or any time of the day. American Innovative has so many inventive clocks, night lights and more to choose from for your little one. They have the perfect item you are looking for especially with the holidays fast approaching!
I was given the chance to review their OK to Wake! Clock and their Penguin Night Light. My daughter wanted to play with them however I had to teach her that the clock was to help her in the morning when it’s alright for her to get out of bed. As a two year old toddler it’s a bit difficult to make sure your child follows through with your instructions. However it will be a very useful tool next year or when she starts to slip out of her normal sleep pattern.
The Danny the Penguin light is awesome! If you press the button on the button the light of the penguin changes different colors. Mostly primary colors although my daughter has been stuck on the blue one ever since she found out it lit up. This has been very useful for her to go into her bedroom with the penguin in the dark and find what she is looking for. She’s not tall enough to reach the light on her wall so this has helped out. It’s not heavy and it has a soft texture to it that makes you want to snuggle it. Of course it’s plastic but slightly spongy to where you can push an indent into it and it will eventually fill that spot in.
We have had this for a few weeks now and the batteries have not died. The light gives off a soft glow so it’s not harmful to the eyes. She’s even taken it to bed with her and fallen asleep with the light on. The best part about this portable night light is that within 30 minutes it automatically shuts off. This helps so much on the life of the battery so I don’t have to worry about checking on her in the middle of the night just to turn it off myself. I recommend any parent who has a little one to get this for them. It makes a perfect traveling companion wherever your toddler or even older child goes. It’s cute and peaceful!
The OK to Wake! Alarm Clock and Night Light is very interesting. It’s light enough for your little one to carry around and the buttons are big enough to make it easy to push them. The clock lights up green whenever you set it to go off so your child knows that it’s ‘OK to Wake!’. I set ours for 9:00 AM as that has been the normal time for my daughter to wake up. She lately has started to wake up at 8:00 AM instead so I tried this out on her. It did light up but she picked it up and put it back in bed with her. When she had it alone for a few minutes she managed to set the alarm and I didn’t know that it had been set until the next morning at 8:30 AM. She had set it herself and I have no idea how! I managed to figure out how to turn it off. There’s a panel on the back that flips open rather easily and you can set the timer, the clock and all other features this provides.
If you don’t like the faceplate on the clock it comes with an interchangeable faceplate. One is green with little alien antenna shapes at the top and the other is a pink flower design as you can see in the photo above. They are very easy to take off and replace!
Hopefully this will work in the near future if I keep it in her room and continue to tell her that when it lights up green, she can come in and wake mommy up. If only it was that easy. This is an excellent idea and I know it takes time to train a little one. I’m crossing my fingers it starts to work after a while of teaching her. It might be a few weeks to almost a year but who knows. She hasn’t caught on yet however I haven’t had it that long. The best part though is that you can set it as an alarm clock for older children who need to get up at a certain time and it even has cute little computer eyes that pop up on the screen and blink with a smile when it’s okay for your child to wake up.
