Seriously. It’s like as soon as I dump the box my kids come running! They love to build. Blocks, Legos, Lincoln Logs, you name it and they will build with it. They always use TinkerToy pieces to build helicopters, boats and other silly contraptions they come up with. They were most excited when we got another set so they could build even bigger traps and contraptions and sit all day breaking down and rebuilding their infamous Tinkertoy designs.
We were sent a TinkerToy 65 piece essentials building set which I had reviewed last year during the holiday season. I did not mind getting another box because it gives both kids plenty to play with and it also lets them build bigger and better buildings, helicopters, or Boomer Boomer 2000’s. (I’ll explain in a minute) The toys are brightly colored and plastic so if you have kids like mine that poke and prod each other, they won’t seriously get wounded. Always a bonus! The kids easily take them put them together and take them apart, although there are a few instances when they can’t get them unstuck so it takes mom power to get the job done.
Mr. C has recently taken to building guns. He’s only four and doesn’t do it very often and I don’t mind since these ‘guns’ don’t shoot bullets but splinters or Jell-O or bad breath. Yep. You read that right! Bad breath. I told you my kids were funny! Below you’ll see a picture of him posing with his Boomer Boom 2000 that shoots splinters. Apparently I have to arm myself with a tweezer shield!
Regardless of how your kids play with their Tinkertoys, they will enjoy creating awesome thingamahwhatsits, doodlehoppers, or cool contraptions no matter what the age, boy or girl. Miss C always gravitates to the helicopter part and her contraptions almost always fly. It’s so much fun to see their imaginations go wild. Tinkertoys are also great fine motor toys and really help that hand-eye coordination since the pieces fit into one another. We love Tinkertoys in our house and you will too. Have fun building with your kids!
