Tips From MedImmune For RSV Prevention #RSVAwareness #MC

By: Amandacomment

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for MedImmune. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Last winter I shared a story about RSV and my daughter who was diagnosed with the virus just in time for me to post about it. Funny how that works right? This season I’m again bringing to you a post about RSV awareness and what you can do to protect your kids from the potential danger. World Prematurity Day is November 17th and this is good information to have if you or someone you know are in contact with a preemie.

Not a care in the world now!

Did you know 13 million babies are born premature? And of the 13 million more than one million die from medical complications. I find it amazing that the United States has one of the highest preterm birth rates at over 12%. Tonya’s twins were born premature seven years ago and spent a few weeks in the NICU. During that time it was very important to protect the twins so they didn’t become sick.

Help prevent your family from RSV by following a few tips and precautions:

  1. Wash your hand thoroughly and often and have others do the same before touching your baby
  2. Don’t smoke in your home or near your baby
  3. Wash toys, bedding and clothes often
  4. Keep your baby away from crowds and young kids
