Tips For Toddler Years With The Mommy MD Guide

Reading books about how to potty train your toddler, or even the steps that your child may go through can easily be boring and too complicated to follow. I was lucky enough to receive The Mommy MD Guide to the Toddler Years to review, and let’s just say it’s been my go-to book for everything about my little girl. This book has everything, although it isn’t exactly like the step by step books you may pick up at the library or store. Instead, read tips and guides from 62 Doctors who are mothers just like everyone else, that range from one way to do something to a complete opposite way to go about it.

The minute I started reading this book I was hesitant. The last book I read was the “What to expect when you are expecting” book, and trust me, it was not as fun as I thought it would be. This book surprised me. Not only was it enjoyable to read, it gave tips from not only Doctors, but the fact that they have experienced the same things I have made it much more fun to read. I easily found myself engrossed in the book, page by page. The fact that I can relate, and I’m sure you can too, to almost everything thrown in this book makes very personal. For example, a simple exert from the book on Potty Training can be seen below.

“My son is 2 1/2, and we just started potty training. He’s at the point now that he tells me when he peed in his diaper and asks for a diaper change. He doesn’t like the way the wet diaper feels against his skin, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to start potty training.” – Shilpa Amin-Shah, MD, a mom of a two-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter and an emergency physician at Emergency Medial Associates, in Livingston, NJ

If you don’t like the advice from one Doctor, there are plenty other suggestions from other Doctors that may suit your interest or beliefs. At the beginning of each chapter you have separate sections starting with Your Toddler’s Development, then Taking Care of You which suggests what you should do for yourself following the subject of the chapter. Within each chapter you will find either Mommy MD Guides Recommended Products, to When to Call Your Doctor. These grayed out boxes are, to me, very important to read. If you have a sick child, or your child is not speaking properly according to his age guidelines, these boxes will give you warning signs to look out for.

If you are looking for a book to not only keep you interested and going back for more, but to help you when you are stuck on certain subjects, The Mommy MD Guides can help you out. They also have a line of Daddy MD Guides specific for Dads, which is awesome!

You can find The Mommy MD Guide to the Toddler Years and the other books in the series for $13.45 each.

I learned that SSRIs can be linked to a delay in lactation, causing difficulty with breastfeeding. That would have been helpful to know before I tried (and failed) breastfeeding my babies

Love all the tips and advice. I checked out the home school tab and found out she home schooled 3 of her 4 boys.
