Talk Like A Pirate Day With Pirate’s Booty! #Talklikeapirateday #piratebooty

By: Amanda3 Comments

Arrrgh! Did you know September 19th is Talk Like A Pirate Day? This is the first year my kids and I will have some fun doing piratey things like walking the plank, don’t step on a croc and eating Pirate’s Booty. I also had the fun opportunity to talk to David Engle aka Billy Bones to discuss his Pirate School!

I had great fun interviewing Billy Bones and quickly learned his favorite pirate lingo. Ahoy, Shiver Me Timbers, Blimey, Lass, and Yo Ho Ho! During Pirate School! the bumbling professor Billy Bones teaches youngsters how to be good pirates with zany lessons on how to stand, talk, sing and laugh like Buccaneers; cannons boom, skulls talk, cutlasses drop and pets run amok.

Pirate School! aims to satisfy children’s universal curiosity about the briny Buccaneers of Yore, but we also want children to thrive in real school as well. Pirate School! also offers two Arts in Education student matinees on STEM curricula and Character Education/Anti-Bully themes, promoting science curiosity and social courage to curious corsairs across America.

pirategems

Big C loved the gems we were sent and felt they would for sure be in any treasure chest. If you notice in the above picture he’s got five gems in his right hand and one in his left. He was quick to do the math problem and told me he was having fun looking at the gems and doing addition.

He quickly rearranged his hands to show another math problem. ‘3+3 is 1 mom. I can do this all night!’ Even though it’s not one of the typical games or activities I’m very proud of him for using his imagination to learn about numbers and counting.

This Talk Like a Pirate Day I’ve got the perfect snack for my little swashbucklers. Pirate’s Booty is baked, not fried and does not contain any artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. It also has 0 grams trans-fat per serving and is certified gluten free.

Even Little C was indulging on Pirate’s Booty! He very much enjoyed eating the rice and corn snack and I wasn’t worried about him choking! Although he’s a bit young to participate in Pirate School or the fun activities for Talk Like A Pirate Day he’ll have fun chasing around his brother and sister saying ‘Arrgh’!

What fun crafts and activites do you have planned for Talk Like A Pirate Day? I’ve got some ideas you can try at home!

  • Pi-Pi-Pirate: A jaunty pirate version of “Duck, Duck, Goose!” Winner gets Pirate’s Booty.
  • Pass the Squid: A silly sea-faring version of “Hot Potato” using marine life plush toys. (aquid, fish, shark, etc.)
  • Tug o’ War: The classic, active outside challenge game. Make sure everyone yells, “Heave!” Winner gets Pirate’s Booty.

Cute pictures. My grandsons love to be Pirates. Hearing them try to mimic the sayings is hysterical.

I love dressing as a pirate and my grandsons and taking them to Krispy Kreme donuts once a year to get a free donut. We have a great time

I can’t wait until my grandson is old enough to play pirates. He’s on;y 19 months old. Now we just watch Jake! He does already eat pirate booty though.
