Summer BBQ? Save Prep Time With Microwavable Corn On The Cob!

By: Amanda1 Comment

Fresh corn on the cob is always such a yummy treat during the summer. That being said, it’s not so much fun to peel and de-silk the corn before you cook it. It’s always great if you can throw it on the grill too, but that’s not always an option either. This is a little trick my mom told me about a few years ago. It’s fast and easy and makes preparing fresh corn a much more pleasant experience! Plus you don’t have to turn your stove top on and boil water when it’s a hot, hot afternoon!!

Microwave Corn on the Cob
Author: Megan
Ingredients
  • 4 ears of fresh corn still in husk (or as many as you need to feed your family)
Instructions
  1. Leave the corn in it’s husk and place entire ear(s) of corn in the microwave in a single layer. I always make sure they can turn on the turn table with out banging on the walls.
  2. Heat for 4 minutes per ear of corn. 4 ears = 16 minutes, 3 ears = 12 minutes, etc.
  3. Once done, remove the corn from the microwave, leave it in the husk and put it on a cutting board.
  4. Using a strong sharp knife, cut off the end of the ear that connected it to the stalk. Cut through the husk and all.
  5. Pick the ear up by the silk end (corn will be hot, I use a hot pad) and squeeze the corn out of it. Squeeze it out the same way you would squeeze a freeze pop out of the plastic tube. The corn will push out and leave all the silk inside the husk.
  6. Season however you prefer and serve while hot.
  7. Enjoy!

Hold by the silk end and squeeze and push the corn out of the husk, leaving the silk inside the husk.
