As a mom of a toddler, plus older kids, I always worry how our outings will go. Some days we barely make it out of the driveway before someone breaks down. Then we have some occasions where everything runs smoothly. Just depends on the day 🙂 When we were given the awesome opportunity to head to Portrait Innovations to capture my trio, I was excited and a bit nervous.
Here is what could have come from toddler tantrums:
From the moment we walked in the studio, we were welcomed, calmed and felt at ease. The waiting area reminds me of sitting in a modern friend’s living room. I had just a few moments to brush through some hair, and it was our turn. We sat all three down for the first group shot, the camera raised…. and my toddler ran from the room. Yep, we were THAT family. As I felt my face turning red, the very friendly photographer, Maribeth, made funny noises, got the big kids laughing and attracted the attention back of the toddler.
Was this the easiest photo shoot we or the Portrait Innovations team had been through? No. Was it the worst? No. You know what made the difference? Maribeth and her team. They tend to work in pairs so one staff member can work with the kids and one will take the photos. I loved that they found what worked for my kids (fart noises, suckers and telling them not to smile!)
After all the photos are taken, then the fun happens. You get to sit down with your photographer and narrow down every shot to find all the perfect poses you can’t live without. They walk you through each step from choosing how many poses you want, help you create decorators, photo books, and photo cards. The best part is, after choosing what you want, you don’t need to wait a month, weeks or even days for your prints, you can take them home in about 20 minutes!
Thanks to the Akron Portrait Innovations team for not only capturing some sweet smiles, but also some ornery personalities, impromptu jumps, and creative posing. Enter the giveaway below!
ONE entrant will be selected by the entry form to win a Portrait Innovations prize package ($129 ARV). Includes a Six (6) pose collection with 2 sheets of each pose, Two (2) 10×13 special effects Decorator Portraits, and One (1) high-resolution CD of your portrait image. My brother never comes to any events we invite him to. I mean NEVER. This year he came to the trail-o-treats event with my mom, my two daughters and I. We had a blast. He enjoyed seeing the kids have fun. he had fun and I manage to get a few photos of him in there. Which also NEVER happens.

I enjoy all of the pics of me and my husband dressed up in costumes because they are all linked to priceless, happy, fun memories. This year alone, we have a pic of us dressed as Minions and another pic of us dressed as Zombies. We look for any reason we can to celebrate, have fun, laugh and be kids at heart. My husband jokes that we are 50 yr old – 5 yr olds haha.

I have a photo of myself and my sisters on Halloween when we were growing up. We didn’t have any special sort of costumes on, just homemade, but it is sentimental because it is a photo of all of us together.
