I grew up watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Mister Rogers’ calm and loving tone, how we fed his fish together, and the consistency of how he changed into his sweater and slippers every day was a gift to my childhood…and how else was I supposed to know how crayons were made until he took us on a video tour of the factory?! While Mister Rogers’ is no longer around, fortunately, his company developed a program that had all the charm and important life lessons of the original for today’s kids. Enter Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. It’s a delightful program with just the right mix of education and entertainment, and something I can feel really good about my 1 and 4-year-old daughters watching. Most importantly, they LOVE it. For this Christmas, I knew they would love some Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood toys.
So, we found the perfect thing – Colorforms Play Set: Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Yet another classic memory from my childhood was playing with Colorforms. They are “stickers” that are pre-cut, well-made, and never lose their “stick” so you can re-arrange in as many ways as you can imagine. Daniel’s Slumber Party Play Set had everything the girls recognized from the episodes at Daniel’s house. They played out scenes from his Sleepover/Backyard Camping episode and made up some of their own stories. My youngest also loves “clean up” time and she gathered the stickers and closed the box, which doubles as the scene backgrounds. It makes storage a breeze and it’s easy for the girls to get out and put away on their own.
Colorforms Travel Play Set: Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood was a new, 2-sided scene (the playground and performance stage from the show!) with new Colorform stickers. The travel set conveniently holds all the Colorforms and folds up to be travel-friendly. We used this set at home, to expand our Slumber Party playset, and we took it on the go. It’s a fantastic way to entertain the girls, nurture their imagination, and get a little quiet, calm play while waiting at a restaurant or just when Mom and Dad need a minute to reset.
The other good thing about dear Daniel Tiger is that he can introduce tricky subjects in an accessible way. His catchy bedtime song “bath time, brush teeth, pjs, story, and song, and off to bed!” has been a longstanding routine for us so the girls were thrilled that they could now help Daniel in the bath, while they take a bath! Bath Time Daniel Tiger set comes with everything you need. From wearing their robes to match Daniel to the bath squirters that really squirted water, this toy was a hit. I mean, he even has his little tigey slippers!
