Old Fashioned Cinnamon Toast

By: Amandacomment

My hubby and I  love a big comfy breakfast on weekend mornings. Eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, you name it we fix it on the weekends! One treat we also like to make is old fashioned cinnamon toast. This has been a favorite of my hubby’s since he was a child. It makes for a perfect “dessert” to go with our huge breakfast. Sweet and a little crunchy, it also makes for a great after school snack or a “snuggling with the kids” snack. Very simple to do and super tasty!!

Ingredients
  • Sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Butter
  • 4-6 slices of bread (however many will suit your family)
Instructions
  1. In a separate small bowl mix together cinnamon and sugar and set aside.
  2. Butter your bread and lay on a foil or parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
  3. Generously sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mixture all over the buttered bread. Do a pretty heavy coating, making sure all the butter is covered.
  4. Turn on your broiler to medium high or high.
  5. Place cookie sheet under broiler and bake for approximately 1-2 minutes. Watch the toast carefully! When the sugar is melted and bubbling it will be ready. It should turn a golden brown color. It may not take the entire 2 minutes, but if you’re not watching it will burn easily.
  6. Remove from broiler and let cool for just a minute. The melted sugar will get a little hard.
  7. Dig in! The melted sugar on top should give you a bit of a crunch!
