HexbugblackholeKids love bugs, well most kids. Mine are both bug crazy and study, pick up, hunt, dig and search for bugs inside and outside of the house. With summer ending and fall here finding bugs and critters is few and far between at our house. I was eager for my kids to try something new and when I was contacted by HEXBUG I knew they would love these toys.

HEXBUGS have been around for a few years. I remember buying them for Christmas when our two oldest nephews were younger and they are still in hot demand from our seven-year-old nephew. The concept of bugs in habitats that you can make run around to chase other HEXBUGS is cool to kids of all ages. Even Miss C. was absolutely engrossed playing with them and she’s only two. (It’s designed for kids three and up) So this toy is not just for boys. You can see in the pictures that my girl liked to play with the HEXBUGS too!

HEXBUG

The new gravity defying HEGBUG Nano V2 bugs can climb up vertically, horizontally, around corners, through loops and tubes, to the tip top of any Nano V2 habitat set. The HEXBUG Nano V2 Black Hole features an evolved Nano bug. It has three rubber spines on its back that allow it to climb and pass other bugs in the tubes. What kid wouldn’t love this?

The HEXBUG Nano V2 Black Hole lets kids custom design their habitat. It has a few different features including a crow’s nest and a black funnel that the bugs go through and can emerge in one of three different tubes. Miss C especially liked watching the bugs go up the tube and then free fall into the black funnel. It’s quite entertaining to watch them worm their way up the tubes. Sometimes you have to make sure they have enough momentum to make the climb.

There are also two cell bases (orange) that you can control the traffic of the HEXBUGS. They have flags and pegs that you can move up and down to make the bugs go where you’d like. This is a fun feature and it lets you control the bugs so they don’t go back to back up the tubes and get stuck together, although they usually don’t have a problem going past one another.

hexbugsizeThe HEXBUGS themselves are very tiny and caution should be taken if you have crawlers or babies who like to eat everything. I still catch Miss C putting stuff in her mouth from time to time but I’m OK with her playing with this as long as I’m in the room. Mr. C decided to swallow a penny a few weeks ago and I don’t need to rehash the drama that ensued! You can see it’s smaller than a toy truck and, while my husband has enormous hands, it’s a pretty small toy.

You can purchase HEXBUG Nano V2 Black Hole at Target, Toys“R”Us, and Walmart stores nationwide for $50 or on Amazon!

Connect with HEXBUG on Twitter and Facebook.

One reader will be randomly chosen to win a HEXBUG Nano V2 Black Hole.(ARV $50) Open to US residents only who are 18 or older. Begins 11/11/2013 at 12:01 am EST and ends 12/09/2013 at 11:59 pm EST.
