Finding educational and fun activities to do with your children can be difficult, however M is for Monsters does all the work for you and ships all the materials straight to your door! I was so excited to review this new subscription box. I enjoy doing activities with my children but sometimes I do not have the time to get all the materials together. With this monthly subscription service I no longer have to worry about running out to the store for last minute materials that I may need.
I received the November box and could not believe that amount of materials and fantastic activities that were included in one box! Inside the box was a information card detailing each activity and gave a guideline of when to complete.
- Week 1 – Scarecrows
- Week 2 – Pumpkins
- Week 3 – Turkeys
- Week 4 -Thanksgiving
Week one’s activities included a letter matching game and a scarecrow art activity. My almost four year old son really enjoyed the scarecrow activity and was able to glue all the shapes and create a scarecrow on his own (the box even included the glue stick). The letter game had sentence strips with letters and my son had to add the correct letter card to the sentence strip. Each sentence strip had color coded scarecrow hats to help. My son enjoyed this game and was able to complete it independently; he was even teaching his younger sister how to play.
Week two’s activities was all about pumpkins! There was a pumpkin sequencing activity, painting with a pumpkin cookie cutter, pumpkin number sequencing and decorating a pumpkin farm with stickers. These were my sons favorite activities out of the four weeks of activities. I helped my son a little with the pumpkin sequencing. He was able to color the pictures but I helped him cut them out and arrange them accordingly. The painting with a cookie cutter was really fun! The box included a pumpkin shaped cookie cutter, orange paint and a piece of paper to decorate. My son made a very cute collage of pumpkins. My son loves anything to do with numbers so the pumpkin number sequencing was his favorite activity. There were pumpkin cards numbered from zero to seven to put in order (I would have loved it if the cards were numbered to ten). There was also a cut out of a pumpkin and a sheet of stickers that my son had his two and a half year old sister help him decorate.
Week three focused on turkeys and had some great games and activities as well. It had a turkey art project, pin the beak on the turkey, and a feather matching game. Pin the beak on the turkey was adorable! It had a poster of a turkey and included a sheet of beaks. I had my son and daughter play and will be playing this again! The feather matching game was another favorite of my sons. It included twelve colorful feathers and three cups to get children started on sorting. There are so many things to do with this game. The information card suggests labeling the cups with different numbers and counting out the correct number of feathers for each cup.
The last week of activities in this box were Thanksgiving activities. It included a card for children to write down what they are thankful for and a Thanksgiving tracing sheet. When I gave my son the card to draw what he is thankful for he drew a person and said it was me! (That was my favorite part of all of the activities). The tracing sheet was perfect since my son has been working on tracing activities in preschool.
I really enjoyed each and every activity included in the November box. This subscription box is a great idea and I know many parents and children will be excited to receive this in their mailbox monthly. After completing the activities I found myself thinking of the December box and what will be included in it for children.
You can subscribe to M is for Monsters monthly ($33) or sign up for a three, six or twelve month subscription. They offer a monthly toddler box or a monthly preschool box. Both boxes have the same theme but the activities differ due to the age. You can do a child add on box at a discounted price. Gift cards are available which I think is fantastic because this is a great gift idea! TDKI readers can use code kidsdidit to receive ten percent off their order!
