My kids are very outdoorsy children. And for that I am thankful. It seems as I get older I’m not partial to walks or exercise and they keep me active. One thing I can do as THEY get older is to instill sun safety in their brains and to make sure they are taking proper precautions when they are outside. (The neighbors know I’m serious when I yell about flip-flops when they are riding their bikes!) So if I care about their toes I need to give just as much importance to their skin, if not more.
I honestly don’t remember my mom telling me to put on sunscreen when I was a kid. I DO remember using tanning oil because I loved the smell (and I was like 6). Sun safety just wasn’t as important thirty years ago as it is now. Neutrogena wants moms to use sunscreen in front of our kids to show the importance of sun safety during daily outdoor activities. I know I am guilty of not remembering to put sunscreen on during walks but I always remember at the ballfield.
Make daily sunscreen application second nature for your kids by having them see you apply sunscreen on yourself! Together, let’s create the first sun-safe generation. Studies show that kids are more likely to adopt healthy habits, like applying sunscreen, if they see their moms applying it on themselves. Sparking this simple, healthy behavior change early on may help reduce the likelihood of developing skin cancer later in life.

Father’s Day is now over. However, it was a special day. My daughter took me and her father to a fine restaurant and then gave him a gift certificate.

I’m a sunscreen fanatic. We apply and reapply so many times. I think it’s from growing up with fair skin and getting burnt from my mom forgetting my ears, my kids’ ears are always first to get coated! WE love love love Neutrogena sunscreen.
