Make A Family Getaway To Castaway Bay!

By: Tiffany S.12 Comments

**Thank you to Castway Bay for hosting my family**

It seems like my family and I are always on the go. Between Girl Scouts, sports, and school events, we are non-stop and many times split. One parent will take one kiddo somewhere and the others will be off to another activity. I have joked with my family at times that I am just going to schedule a family getaway on the calendar, so we can all be together, doing something fun. Lucky for us, living in Northeast Ohio, Castaway Bay in Sandusky is a short trip away.

Castaway Bay is where the Caribbean meets Sandusky, Ohio. This tropical themed resort sits just minutes away from America’s Roller Coast, Cedar Point. It is a hotel with over 200 guest rooms and suites, a 38,000-square-foot indoor waterpark loaded with water activities for all ages, fitness center, 6,000-square-foot state-of-the-art arcade, a craft and child activity center, three restaurants, retail shops, adjacent marina and space for meetings, group events, and birthday parties.

We checked into our standard double room, complete with private balcony, overlooking the quiet (and still chilly) marina. I know when the warmer months arrive, it will be fun to watch the busyness of the waterway. We drove up during a weekend cold spell, so we were all very excited to get down to the always 82-degree water fun! One of the best perks of staying at the Castaway Bay resort is you have full access to the waterpark each day your are there. Even for our one-night family getaway, we could have two full days of access to the park and facilities.

Some of the highlights we enjoyed all together as a family included: eating at the attached Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant, having one on one time with Snoopy at a dance party and bedtime story event, game token craziness at the arcade, crafting and coloring in Club Castaway and of course the waterpark! When you first walk into the waterpark, it takes your breath away, there is just so much to do. If you have varying ages of children in your family, don’t fret, there are many ways to enjoy the day together and take time for one another. All three of the kids had fun splashing and sliding in the toddler tide pool, we all floated, jumped and splashed through the wave pool and explored the nooks and crannies of the Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse. While the smallest napped, I took the big kids on Rendezvous Run, a water roller coaster.

We all agreed that our Castaway Bay trip was exactly what we needed for our getaway and all said next time, we’ll spend an extra night to make a weekend of it! Have any of you been lucky enough to experience Sandusky’s Castaway Bay? What if I told you I have 4 day passes to give away?!

I am from Sandusky, Ohio and we have never been to Castaway Bay! My kids have been dying to visit a waterpark so that is what we would do first! Probably would be in for a nap afterwards 🙂

We would definitely head to the water park first. It’s starting to warm up here in Ohio, but actually being able to enjoy swimming and playing with my son in the water would make it feel like spring was actually here finally.
