We love playing outside in the summer and living in Northern Indiana we are right on the time zone line so it stays light outside a little longer than most places. When we first moved here we lived on a lake and my son loved going out on the water in the pontoon boat. We’ve since moved to a house that is more kid friendly that has a fenced in backyard where the kids can go play while I can be making dinner.
The one think I miss from the other house is the access to water and knew we had to get a water table for the kids to splash around in. Unlike the lake house we pay for city water here so having them run in the sprinkler was just not an option! My daughter has also been known to play for hours with cups in the sink just dumping the water in and out so now she can suit up and stay outside all day!
The Little Tikes Anchors Away Pirate Ship kid’s water table was the right fit for us! What is a water table? It’s a nice outdoor (or indoor) toy that holds water and has special features to occupy your children while they splish splash around! We chose the Anchors Away Pirate Ship for the design and the amount of water it can hold since I did not want to keep refilling the boat every five minutes! Who wouldn’t want to play around in a cool pirate ship?

Helping grandpa put together the ship!
The ship is very easy to put together and took about 20 minutes with the kids helping grandpa. Perfect timing since we were having a garage sale that weekend! And don’t worry, if you lose the directions you can easily go on the Little Tikes site and download them from a PDF.
The kids have had a blast taking their water toys outside and scooping up the water. Much to my dismay they mixed sand from the sandbox in with the water the first day they were playing. It’s very easy to move and it’s only 20 pounds so my son takes it all over the yard depending on his mood and what he wants to pretend to be that day.

All of the features of the table are neat and the favorite seems to be the crows nest. Both kids love putting water and anything they can find in the yard in it to see if it has the trickledown effect. They both love to empty it out at night if I tell them it’s going to storm and then come back in the morning and measure the amount of rain that’s accumulated. Science at its best!
I will note that we did have a bit of trouble with the cannon sticking and squirting water at first. However, my Mr. Fix it husband took it apart and was able to correct the problem.
Some awesome features of the water table include:
- Cannon that squirts water
- Spinners cause current in the ship which moves floating objects around
- A plank
- A spinning steering wheel
- Anchor that raises and lowers by cranking the handle
- Several toys including a shark (named Sharkey of course)

Happy Girl!
