I received the Boca Beth Grande Bag. What is in the bag:

  • My First Songs in Spanish music CD
  •  More Boca Beth bilingual music CD
  •  Mi casa/My House bilingual educational DVD
  •  I Like Animals DVD
  •  One language learning activity book
  •  One egg shaker
  • How to Guide in English or Spanish

Although my children are half Spanish, my two year old and three year old have a combined vocabulary of around five Spanish words. I do not speak Spanish and, with my husband’s busy work schedule, it is difficult for him to teach them the language. I really want my children to be fluent in Spanish. Aside from just wanting them to know the language, there are many other benefits of being bilingual at a young age, such as, children tend to read sooner and they score higher on standardized tests. So, I was very eager to try this program with my children and see how receptive they were to the material. The program is built around BOCA, who is the puppet teaching in the videos. I mainly used the materials with my two and a half year old daughter since my son is in Pre-K during the day. My daughter is very, very talkative so I knew she would enjoy the songs and videos and was hoping she would teach some of the words to my son.

There are two videos in this set, “I Like Animals” and “Mi Casa”. I started off with the “I Like Animals” video because my daughter loves anything having to do with animals and of course she loved this video and requests it everyday! After watching this video a couple of times she was already responding to the puppet and repeating words. It was so much fun for me to watch her enjoying the activities. I had my husband ask her to translate some of the animals and she was able to say the names so I know this program is working. Also, I have to say, I learned a bunch of new vocabulary as well.

The two music CDs are so catchy! I even find myself singing along in the car! There are fifteen songs on one and sixteen on the other so there are a lot of songs to choose from for your children. My children really like the “My First Songs in Spanish” CD and want to listen to it everywhere we go in the car. The songs have everyday concepts and important vocabulary children need to learn and that’s why I love these CDs so much. The songs on the “My First Songs in Spanish” CD teach numbers/counting, colors, days of the week and important phrases (thank you, you’re welcome, please).

Boca Beth

There was a coloring/activity book included in the kit which my daughter quickly claimed. It features Boca the puppet introducing different pictures and the words are written on the bottom of the page in both English and Spanish. I have been making copies of the pages because my daughter really wants to color them but I plan to use this book with my children when they are a little older and are beginning to read. There are many great games and interactive activities available on the website that I have been using with my children. My daughter’s favorite is Help BOCA Build His House/Casa.

I am pleasantly surprised to see my children responding so well to the material in this Boca Beth Grande Bag. I have my husband “test” their knowledge and they are excellent! I plan to continue using this product in the hopes that my children retain the information and become fluent in the language.

You can purchase your own Boca Beth products, including the Grande Bag for $50, on their website. You can use the promotional code KIDS to receive 25% off of your order. Also, shipping is always free!
