Do your kids love going outside? Mine are outdoors constantly. From the moment their backpacks drop on the floor they ask to go outside and play. And I’m okay with it as long as we don’t have a practice or somewhere to be. Creative play is an important part of growing up and regardless if school is in session or the days are colder my kids will be outdoors because they love it!
It’s hard to believe that this picture was taken a couple months ago but we’d just had a nice rainfall the previous day and the kids decided to go hunting for frogs. We have woods and a little stream in the back of our house and they spend a lot of time there during the rainy season. As you can see they love to get wet and dirty. Nothing a little soap won’t rinse off!
Not only do the kids go out to play in the summer time but throughout the year. Little C is enjoying the changing leaves this fall while his brother and sister are at school. The Voice of Play is an education and advocacy initiative of the non-profit membership association, IPEMA, formed to educate and promote the benefits of children’s free outdoor play and playgrounds. Through the Voice of Play website and social media properties, IPEMA highlights the scientifically proven physical, social, emotional and cognitive benefits of play.
How do you prioritize play in the fall and winter? Do you visit the playground? Does your family visit the local pumpkin patch every year? Have fun this fall and winter by going outside to play!
