Fried Ice Cream

By: Tonya9 Comments

Us girls at The Kids Did It LOVE to eat! So we’ve decided to post some of our recipes. Or even those we hope to try!

This is one of my all time favorite desserts.  A friend’s mother in high school used to make it for me and I recently reconnected with her and was so excited to get this recipe and a few other favorites. Fried ice cream is actually a lot easier than it sounds, AND the ice cream is not fried at all. Be ready for me to make your mouth water!

The Kids Did It -Fried Ice Cream with Chocolate Sauce #3

Fried Ice Cream
Author: Tonya
Ingredients
  • Vanilla ice cream (or choose your favorite flavor)
  • Cinnamon Graham crackers
  • Small flour tortillas (1 per person)
  • Cooking oil
  • Toppings (caramel sauce, chocolate syrup, sprinkles, whipped cream….)
Instructions
  1. Heat about an inch, maybe a little less of oil in a skillet.
  2. While the oil is getting hot crush the graham cracker in a mini food processor and place in a bowl.
  3. Fry tortillas (one at a time) until very very light brown, this goes pretty fast. Remove from skillet and push into a bowl quickly as they get crunchy really fast. They don’t have to be perfect and if you punch a hole in the bottom it is ok!
  4. After you get shells ready, scoop ice cream into chunks and roll/toss in graham cracker crumbs.
  5. Place ice cream into the tortilla shells and top with your favorite toppings and whipped cream. Enjoy!
Notes
I like my shells a little chewy so I cook the first one then cook mine about half of the time. It is perfectly fine to cook them a little in advance, up to a few hours. My husband like to sprinkle some of the graham cracker crumbs on the tortilla before adding the ice cream. I also grind up the entire box of graham crackers and what I don’t use I put in the freezer for next time, mmm mmm good!

This looks very good and very easy to make at home. Frying things can be kind of scary for me but this makes it lok easier now.

When I first saw the title I thought- wait- you can’t fry ice cream lol Your recipe is totally not what I expected! But it looks really good. I wonder if it would work with GF tortillas. I may have to try!
