The kids had so much fun helping with these, I of course had to do the icing but they helped with everything else. It was fun to explain and get them excited for the Olympics. I’m looking for more fun Olympic themed ideas if anyone has any please let me know 🙂
1 Box cake mix (I used white and mixed in some sprinkles for fun)
19-24 Cake Ice Cream cones (flat bottom)
2 Containers vanilla frosting
1 cup powdered sugar
Yellow Food coloring
Orange sugar or sprinkles
1.) Preheat oven to 350°
2.) Cover either 2 cupcake pans or 2 cake pans (which I prefer) with foil and cut X’s with a knife, making about 12 X’s per pan.
3.) Push the ice cream cones into each X so it holds them up right.
4.) Mix together the cake mix as directed on the box (add the sprinkles if you choose too) and pour into ice cream cones filling 2/3 full.
5.) Bake for 17-20 minutes. Let cool in the pan.
6.) While the cupcakes are baking and cooling, dump the icing into a bowl, yellow food coloring (I used 1/2 of a little bottle), add 1 cup of powdered sugar (or more if needed) and mix with a mixer for a couple of minutes. (I also added some almond extract). Set aside until the cupcakes are completely cool.
7.) Once they are completely cool, fill a gallon ziplock bag with icing, seal it trying to get as much air out as possible. Snip the very tip of the bottom corner being careful to not cut the hole too big.
8.) Pipe on the icing on top of the cupcakes and sprinkle with the orange sugar or sprinkles and Voila! Edible Olympic torch.

These are so cute! I have made cone cakes before but I would have never thought of making them look like the Olympic Torch!
