DIY Wine Glass Charms and Cheese And Wine Party

A close friend of mine has recently become a Scentsy representative. When she started her business she reached out to me and asked me to host a party for her. Normally these types of things are not my bag, but I agreed because I knew she would do the same for me. So I wrote out my guest list and sent out the invites. Once I started getting positive responses, I decided I wanted to do something really nice for the ladies who came over. I decided to make it a wine and cheese party!

First, I had to prep everything. Having gotten a general head count I went to the store and bought a few extra wine glasses! First of all, I wanted to make sure everyone could tell their wine glasses apart. I decided to make some simple wine glass charms. Very simple to do. I had made these before as party favors for an adult surprise birthday party as well as given them as gifts paired with a bottle of wine and a set of glasses. Armed with my coupon, I went to Michael’s and bought all the supplies I needed.

You will need:

1”-2” earring loops

Various small glass beads

Directions:

Gently open up the earring loop.

Slide 2-3 beads onto the loop. Add any charms or make any pattern you like.

Make sure the loop can close comfortably around the stem of your wine glass. Sometimes I found I had used beads that were too large or I had tried to squeeze on too many beads, thus making the earring wire bend and lose its circular shape. So, make some small adjustments until you are pleased with the finished product!

 Next, I had to figure out what kind of wine went with what kind of cheese. After mixing and matching information from about a dozen web sites, I came up with pairing Moscato with biscotti and Muenster, Chianti with dried fruit and fresh mozzarella, Chardonnay with popcorn and baked brie, White Zinfandel with dark chocolate brownies and aged cheddar, and Riesling with pita chips and Gouda. There was also soda, punch and water served for those who don’t enjoy wine. I also decided to serve mixed nuts, chocolate dipped strawberries, various crackers and my crock pot meatballs since they are always a crowd pleaser.

Once that was all decided on, I needed to figure out a layout that would allow everyone to know what went with what. Again, on Pinterest, I saw the idea of using a chalkboard. I was already aware of a roll out chalkboard material that I has seen at Michael’s on a previous trip and decided to use that as a table runner. I smoothed it onto my table, similar to contact paper and then drew lines and arrows to connect the wine with the proper cheese and snack.

Well, the party was a success! Everyone really enjoyed trying a sample or two of the different wines and tasting the variety of snacks that went with them. I got a ton of compliments on the chalkboard table runner and the handmade wine glass charms. I think that everyone left knowing that I was grateful that they came!
