Last October, Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies launched Care To Recycle® on Tumblr after learning that many of us often forget to recycle in the bathroom, where most of the company’s personal care products are used. The program aims to remind people to complete the cycle of care by recycling the product package when it is empty through creative and original content on Care to Recycle. To celebrate its one year anniversary, and further engage and reward consumers, Care To Recycle launched a scavenger hunt in partnership with Recyclebank to encourage participants to explore the contents of caretoreycle.com.
How the Scavenger Hunt Works:
- Hunt hints will be featured both on caretorecycle.com and recyclebank.com through November 6. These hints will drive users to look through the caretorecycle.com page to find a corresponding answer post. Once this answer post is found, users can claim 10 Recyclebank points, which can then be used for rewards such as gift cards, electronics, eco-friendly gifts, and other household products. There are a total of 5 hunt hints that will be posted throughout the duration of the scavenger hunt.
- Use the Hunt Hints posts to find corresponding answer posts on caretorecycle.com. Answer posts will be marked with the 1-Year Anniversary badge in the upper left-hand corner that looks like a candle. Be sure to scroll through the page to locate these posts. Once found, click the “Earn Points” button to claim Recyclebank points.
- While many people recycle in general and in rooms of the house such as the laundry room or kitchen, many forget or simply do not recycle in the bathroom.
- Care To Recycle® aims to raise awareness of recycling in the bathroom through engaging, educational content such as statistics, DIY projects, and True/False posts.
- Care To Recycle® believes that recycling can become a fun family activity and a way for parents to do projects with their kids, while incorporating educational components along the way.
Tips to help you recycle with your kids:
Make it fun! Have projects ready for the kids about the process of recycling.
Educate. Go to your local wetlands or parks and ask if they have information or programs about recycling. Our local children’s museum has an area for recycling and our library has a lot of educational material for young children.
Keep a small recycle bin in your bathroom. It doesn’t have to be big. A small can like the ones that go on your counter for scraps will work. Have the kids decorate the can in a way that will remind them to recycle.
