Spring has finally sprung in Ohio! Every year we buy a new bird feeder because it seems they get so worn or damaged from wind. Oh boy, the wind can be brutal here. We haven’t had much time to go shopping for a new one so I decided to make a fun bird feeder out of toilet paper rolls for Earth Day. I admit that it’s not a priority for me to recycle in the bathroom and I’m not alone. A 2016 consumer survey on in-home recycling habits, conducted in partnership with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., shows that one-third of regular recyclers admit that it never even occurred to them to recycle in the bathroom and only one in five recyclers have a recycling bin in their bathroom.
DIY Bird Seed Feeders
To make this easy craft simply take an empty toilet paper roll and spread with peanut butter.
Roll the peanut butter covered toilet paper holder in the bird seed.
Tie a ribbon around the middle of the holder then hang on one of your tree branches. We like to put our in the front window so the kids can sit and watch. The birds (and maybe squirrels) will thank you!
Did you know a 2016 consumer survey on in-home recycling habits, conducted in partnership with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., shows that 60% of parents would be more likely to discuss recycling with their children if it was an activity they could do together and they had more creative, engaging ways to explain the impact of recycling?

I loved making bird feeders as a kid. When I saw the birds actually using them I was overjoyed. I can’t wait to make feeders with my little boy.
