Awesome Treats From Nostalgia Electronics {Review}

Ever wanted to add some fun and jazz to your parties or just have something awesome to use when you make snacks for your family at home? Nostalgia Electrics provides all kinds of neat products from hot dog stands to any kind of electronics that you may have never heard of before. I was lucky to receive the Cake Pop & Donut Hole Bakery Maker as well as the 3-in-1 Electric Soft Pretzel Maker. I have never used these before, or any products like these, whatsoever. Let’s just say my first few tries were not so bad, and my first try with the pretzel maker made me fall head over heels in love with it!

I first made Chocolate Cake Pops (which my husband decided to call donut holes instead), which turned out a little odd on the top but they still tasted absolutely amazing. I used the recipe from the booklet that came with the product, minus some salt, and they turned out awesome! Some photos are below to prove I actually did them right the first time.

This Cake Pop Bakery is so much fun, I honestly thought it would be more work than what it actually was. I made sure to wipe it down before using it and then spraying it with some olive oil non-stick cooking spray. As the directions suggested I made sure to let it warm up and emit the steam and smell it needed to get rid of, which only took a few minutes. It emitted a strange “new product” scent, which smelled somewhat burning plastic but more of the cooking spray. I made up my mixture and filled the holes, again as the directions said.

Although it suggested to let it cook at least 5-7 minutes, I managed to open the electronic maker and poked at one to see if they were done and it was slightly gooey on the inside. So I closed it, let it cook a couple more minutes and voila! Perfect. They look slightly dark in the picture above but I swear they were not burnt or my husband would not have eaten them.

After a few more rounds of that batch I managed to make at least a couple to a few dozen donut holes (cake pops). Some I rolled in confectioner’s sugar, the others I left plain. These melted in my mouth and left me craving more, so the recipe did not cheat my taste buds, and I have since then made a second batch for my husband. The second recipe I tried was a simple quick donut hole recipe, and for some odd reason the batter turned out thick and not liquid like the chocolate recipe. Below is what I made.

Despite the odd turnout, they tasted yummy and according to my mother they “Taste like Donuts”. Thankfully. The second product I tested was the pretzel maker and of course for this one I bought a pretzel making kit, however the product made the kit so much easier to work with than I expected.

I had a few people mention how excited they were to test this out in my house, but of course it’s all mine and I got to test it out first! Just kidding. I did make the pretzels on my own though. After making the batter I rolled out the dough and used the large cutter to make the pretzels, super easy to use although it did get stuck in the dough after the seventh time I used it. Thankfully it cut the pretzel to perfect size and when I laid it in on the device it fit perfectly! Super easy. Did I mention I had never used these types of products before?

It took a little less than the projected cooking time, and they slid right out of the cooking device super easily. After brushing the pretzels with some melted butter and sprinkling them with salt they practically melted in my mouth. Sadly, after 5 eaten I figured it was time to share them with my family before I devoured the lot.

I was so amazed at how incredibly easy it was to make the cake pops/donut holes, and the pretzels. Not only were they easy to operate, the instructions were straight forward. All the ingredients suggested were cheap to work with and very tasty. I’m excited to use these for future parties or gatherings I may have, and I might just post about them! As for the non-stick surface on both products, they were perfect and did their job. Washing them took only a couple seconds and with the pretzel maker the trays click right off and are easy to wash right in the sink. Awesome products, I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for something fun to have in their house!

You can find the Cake Pop/Donut Hole Bakery for $24.99 and the 3-in-1 Pretzel Maker for $29.99. Check out Nostalgia Electrics for more of their awesome inventions, I bet you will be surprised at all the unique products they have available!

    I absolutely love these. I have a larger set type thing used to make cake pops in the oven but this would be really good for days where only a small batch is needed. I have never seen the pretzel maker before and I’m in love!! I must have it. lol

    I would absolutely love both of these products. I am a bit of a soft pretzel nut, but the microwave and oven just don’t get pretzels done the way I really like them. The cake pops would be fun to make with the kids and woukd be great for any party.

    What great products! I’d love to be able to make both of these at home. My daughter makes the cake pops but it doesn’t call for one of these to make and although I haven’t tried them, she said everyone loves them. Those pretzels had to be so tasty having them warm…oh yummm~!
