Simple Easter Crock Pot Ham

Crock Pot Ham
Author: Megan
I’m a crock pot cooker. I use mine probably twice a week. I have gathered quite a collection of tasty recipes. This one, though, I made up off the top of my head. I was craving ham and wasn’t in the mood (let’s face it I was being lazy) to do all the cross-hatching, clove sticking, brown sugar shoving and pineapple laying that goes into making ham the way I like to eat it. So with just a couple of ingredients that I had on hand I tried something new and luckily it came out delicious!
Ingredients
  • 2-3 lb precooked ham
  • 3 cups apple juice or pineapple juice or ginger ale
  • 3 cups water
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar (optional)
Instructions
  1. Place ham into crock pot
  2. Add water and juice, enough to cover meat
  3. Sprinkle in brown sugar
  4. Cook on low for 6-8 hours
Notes
The ham will be really tender and just fall apart when you eat it. I have tried all three juices and it all turns out about the same. The brown sugar adds just a touch of sweet, if you like that, but I have also made it without the sugar and we have enjoyed it just as much. Great to do at bedtime so you can have ham with eggs and all the fixings for a yummy breakfast or brunch. Or it’s just a good for dinner with some scalloped potatoes, green beans and rolls.
