Partida Tequila Review {Holiday Gift Guide}

tequila

When I go back home to Ohio we also try to stop at our favorite Mexican restaurant Elsa’s. Besides having flautas they  have their own drinks called Bad Juans. It’s really a local drink that probably no one outside of Dayton, Ohio has heard of. This drink has tons of alcohol in it and of course tequila. They have it on the rocks or you can get it frozen. I always get frozen strawberry with sugar. Yum. Whenever I think of tequila I think of this drink and other fond memories of days in my 20’s. Yep, those were some good times!

Partequila

We received a sampler pack of Partida tequila that included Anejo, Reposado, and Blanco flavors. Partida is unique since their blue agave is cultivated for 7-10 years then picked by hand to preserve the freshness of the agave. If you notice in our picture there are only two sampler bottles…that’s because my husband took it upon himself to drink the Anejo. According to him “the Anejo is smooth and has more flavor and less bite. It doesn’t even need ice to make it a good drink. I could actually sit and savor this glass of tequila just as I would a glass of scotch.” He was pretty spot on since he didn’t read the description beforehand.

The Anejo (husband’s favorite) is aged in American oak one-pass Jack Daniels barrels and is aged 7-10 years. It has a cherry, almond, dried fruit, and spice aroma. The aroma comes from a light blend of cherry, almond, dried fruit and spices. It has honey fruited tones blended with flavors of banana, chocolate and sweet pear. According to the Partida website “To taste this Tequila’s true flavor, it’s got to be savored.”

The Blanco is a nice tequila to mix in drinks and use in cooking recipes that call for tequila to add flavor. It does smell floral as the description stated and is mixed with tropical fruits, citrus, and herbs. We thought the Blanco was smoother than the Reposed and it’s what we used to make a margarita on the rocks to share. It had just the right amount of bite that I didn’t shutter when I drank the margarita.

When I smelled the Repasado I admit I just wanted to grab a shot glass, get some salt and a lime, and take a shot. I tasted it and the flavor was very strong. I’m honestly not one to just sample alcohol. I usually cringe at the thought unless it’s to deliberately take a shot. According to Partida the Repasado has an “enticing light amber color with splashes of golden tones. A rich finish topped off with scents of vanilla, hazelnut and almond and was called “The Bentley of Reposado’s”.

We had a great time trying the different tequilas and yes it brought back fond memories of our youth. Partida tequila would be a nice addition to your holiday shopping list and makes a wonderful stocking stuffer. You can also follow Partida Tequila on Facebook!
