Summer Blog Challenge Day #72 (August 11)

By: Nik2 Comments

Post a typical ‘day in the life’ post

Joy-I’m boring too. Right now it’s camp time for my son so I’m up by 7-730 AM so he can be at camp by 830. Then I come home and watch ‘Live with Kelly’. That show gets my day started and I’ve been watching for years. I then am busy piddling around the house, blogging, running errands, keeping the 1 yr old active. Bedtime usually occurs between 7-8pm. Since it’s summer they stay up later though.

Nik-  A typical day in the life of Nik.  Wow, as I’m writing this, I’m seeing how predictable (i.e. boring) my life is!  My alarm goes off at 5 am and I start my day about 6am.  I take the bus to work, so I clock in by 7:30.  I work until about 5:30 in the evening, then I take the bus home.  (I’m fortunate at work that I can help to work on the blog and such.  But, shhhhhh  don’t tell my boss).  Since this is soccer season for us, once I get home it’s off to practice or a game.  After watching my son play we go home and eat dinner.  After trying to relax for a short time I go to bed to start it all over again the next day.  That is just the skeleton of it.  My day-to-day routine is pretty boring, but in between I can have non-boring things happen.

Tonya- I should be up at 6:15 but usually roll out of bed at 6:30.  The babies I care for get dropped off at 7:15 and my kids have recently been waking up between 7:30 and 8:30.  Then it’s a day full of taking care of all the kiddos. They keep me VERY busy. The babies get picked up at 5:15 and then it’s time to cook dinner, eat, clean up. Family time with my husband and my boys. Bath time and bed time by 9 if we’re lucky. Once they kids are in bed my husband and I have our laptops clicking away and we usually watch some type of show together and then in bed asleep by midnight, sometimes later. Kinda boring but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Unless we win the lottery, then I wouldn’t care for children out of my home but for now it means I get to stay home with my babies and it’s what has to be done.

I think there is something good about have a predictable schedule, especially for children. That was something that was emphasized in the Waldorf school that we did an early-childhood program at for a couple of years. The children find comfort and are more calm when they know what to expect at certain times of the day or on particular days of the week.
