Kangaroo care and skin to skin contact has been proven to positively affect all newborn babies. A few of the benefits include regulating babies’ body temperature, helping relieve pain and helps regulate heart rate and breathing. And mom receives benefits as well, including increasing milk production for feedings, speeds recovery time and helps reduce risk of post-partum depression. The only real part of my birth plan that must be followed for me is handing me my sweet baby ASAP, no need to clean or add goop to eyes, we need out time! Once we’re out of the hospital, I’ve found the perfect shirt to help me with kangaroo care of my new little one, the Nüroo Pocket.

Nuroo Pocket

When I first tried on the Pocket, I thought just how soft and comfortable the fabric was. Then I was concerned that I may get too warm with a little one on me, then the shirt wrapped around. But Nüroo thought of that as well. There are breathable mesh sections on the back of the shirt. Since little one isn’t here yet, I had to practice with my older daughter’s baby doll. It only took me one try to get used to how to put on the shirt and properly place baby. The shirt comes with clear and precise directions on how to wear and place baby safely.

Back of Nuroo

There are many things that I love about the Nüroo Pocket. I enjoy their cross and hug closures to help you feel more secure in holding baby, the included belt that you wear right under baby’s bottom to help with additional support and the fact that the shirt is moisture wicking! Another great added feature is the added slit inside the pocket. This is so you can wear your baby and the doctor can have access to the little foot, for blood pricks, checks, etc., and baby can stay close on you and less phased by what is happening. I wish they had this feature for two year olds!

Nüroo also offers a swaddler that grows with baby, so you won’t need to purchase multiple sizes. I love that the fabric is just as soft as the shirt and moisture wicking as well, to help regulate baby’s body temperature. The last Nüroo product that I’m considering purchasing is the nursing scarf. I really enjoy the designs they offer and the fact that I can wear it as a scarf while it’s not in use for baby is a perfect versatile feature.
