My son started Kindergarten this week and boy was he so excited! I’m not sure if it was riding the bus for the very first time, being with his friends in the neighborhood or simply because he loves learning. I’m sure it was combination of of all of the above. To help prepare him for the school year we’ve been doing activities at home. The STEM Magnets Science Station from Lakeshore Learning were a big hit with him and his sister and they learned quite a few new and interesting lessons.
My kids love to play fishing games. One of their favorite bathtub toys is a fishing pole with magnetic fish and a net. I knew they’d enjoy playing with the STEM magnets fishing game. We learned what the quickest way to catch all the fish was and why some fish were able to be picked up by the pole and others weren’t.
They had a lot of fun building the ramp and figuring out how to make the car move up the ramp. It was neat being able to explain to them the poles and why the cars would go up and down depending on where the magnet was positioned.
Picking up the cars with the magnets was very amusing to Miss C. It kept her entertained as she was trying to figure out why they could be picked up!
My son is figuring out how to make the car go up the ramp. Doesn’t his look of determination say it all?
Finally we played the mouse maze game. My kids just had to get a small shred of cheese and put it on top of the picture of the cheese. You can see my son trying to feed the mouse.
He’s figured out where to put the paddle to move the mouse. At first he tried waving it over the mouse but that didn’t work. He’s having fun!
Trying maze number two!
Miss C. playing with a different maze. And there’s still a piece of cheese at the end!
Believe me when I say the kids really enjoyed playing with the STEM Magnets Science System. It’s a great learning game for younger kids.
