You read the box right. This tank grows food! Back To The Roots has an awesome innovative tank that you can place your beta fish in and he literally helps feet your plants while the plants help keep the tank clean. This is an awesome tank I have never heard of before. All you have to do is follow the instructions, place a fish inside your tank, planet your herbs or seeds in the top and wait. Simple as that. You don’t have to water the plans as they are already watered in the bottom of their little tub area at the top of the tank. There’s even a small flip hole so you can feed the fish instead of lifting the whole top off and interrupting your plants. Plus the tank isn’t in the way and it sits neatly where every you want it to. No mess!

betafish

Quick, easy steps to get your fish tank prepared for your little guy. They even include a coupon so you can get a discount on your new friend. All of the necessary ingredients come with the tank other than the fish (since they don’t deliver that well in a truck of course). Simply follow the directions and your fish will be swimming around in his new home in less than an hour. At least that’s how long it took me, it might be different for everyone else. I love this tank. I actually set it towards the back of my counter near my stove and sink. The plants get a bit of sunlight but nothing direct and it’s in a comfortable temperature in the house. Perfect!

growplants

The stones above are what you have to clean in the sink before getting them ready for the tank. The gravel must be cleaned and placed in the bottom of the fish tank after you create a bath for the fish and then clean it out again. Just a few steps to make sure your fish and plants survive for a long time. Those cups of rocks are actually porous rocks so the plants can create roots and (mind the pun) plant themselves firmly in place.

herbs

Voila, one week later you have herbs! The top part is the wheat grass, on the right is my basil. The wheat grass is actually very strange in taste but perfect in salads. Kind of like a strong flavor of grass. Delicious though. My basil is still taking it’s time to grow.

fishtank

Happy fish, happy plants, happy tank!
