The Happy Trunk

Finding fun and educational activities for my children is very important to me. The Happy Trunk sends you monthly hands on art activities,  crafts, and science activities. I thought this box might be too advanced for my three year old son. However, with my assistance, he was able to really enjoy these activities! Each box includes information cards and all the materials you will need to complete your crafts. The first box of your subscription will include scissors.

I received September’s The Happy Trunk which was titled “Wacky Science”. This box included three projects, Make Slime Monsters, Make Magnetic Hairstyles and Make Fizzing Lava Lamp.

The Happy Trunk

The first project, Make Slime Monster, was so much fun! This project was easy to make by mixing three ingredients to create slim. The box I received gave two color options, purple and yellow. My son loved playing with the slime monster after we were done mixing everything. There was also a container and lid to store the slime. We added some googly eyes to the container to really make it look like a slime monster!

The Happy Trunk

The second project, Make Magnetic Hairstyles, was my son’s favorite of the three. We glued the googly eyes on the wand and I helped him draw eyes and a mouth. My son had so much fun using the wand to pick up the pipe cleaners to create wacky hairstyles!

The Happy Trunk

The third project, Make Fizzing Lava Lamp, was a great lesson. The bottle came with oil in it and we had to add water, sequins and the “fizz” powder”. We discussed what happens when we add the water to the oil and then what happens when we add the sequins and “fizz powder”. My son loved playing with the Fizzing Lava Lamp. I used my glue gun to seal the lid so it wasn’t easy to open.

The Happy Trunk is a great subscription box and it gave me some very fun activities to do with my children. You can subscribe to the box geared towards ages three to seven years old or the box geared toward ages seven to eleven years old. You can subscribe monthly for $20 or subscribe to a three, six or twelve month subscription. You can also add a sibling box for $7.95 which includes double the materials in the box. If you use coupon code HT20 you will receive 20% off anything on the site!

Connect with The Happy Trunk on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

One TKDI reader will be randomly chosen to win one creativity kit and one science kit! (ARV $33) Open to US residents only who are 18 or older. Begins 10/25/2013 at 12:01 am EST and ends 11/11/2013 at 11:59 pm EST.
