I remember a few years ago my husband was offered a promotion with his company when my oldest son was just a few months old. Though terrifying to me (I’d never lived more than 15 min. from my family) off we went. Our first destination was a sleepy college town in northern Ohio outside of Mansfield. It was so different from what I was use to (even Ohio has big cities) but I was able to call my family as often as I needed for advice about my then six month old. We had an occasional dropped call, nothing too annoying but sometimes you don’t get so lucky!
A year later and my husband got the call that we were moving (again) to Mishawaka, Indiana (South Bend). I’m not sure what it was with us going to college towns but off we went to the home of Notre Dame. Now, I was freaked because I’d never lived in a different state than my family and living in Ashland was only about two hours away. A perfectly manageable day trip back home that we often took for holidays and special occasions. South Bend was about five hours away from Dayton and (almost) in a different time zone but we decided it was a great opportunity and if we were going to explore we’d do it while our son was young.
Fast forward to my husband finding a perfect newly built house we could afford on a LAKE! What? It was beautiful and quiet (except for the train) and a great experience to have, except for all the dropped calls to my family over the two years we lived there. It was beyond annoying. I was pregnant with our daughter when we first moved to the lake and excited to talk to my mom and sister about anything and everything baby. Imagine my surprise when I had to find just the right spot in the house and when I did it often changed the next day or week. Frustrating. All of the trees did not make for good cell phone reception. It would have been great to know Verizon is #1 cell service provider for speed, data, reliability, and overall network performance in the U.S. according to an independent third-party tester.
