Every year my son gets excited about fall. It has nothing to do with the leaves changing colors or the start to a new school year. No, his love is because Halloween is right around the corner!
We go through the same thing each year when picking out a costume. He says that he wants to be different this year, but in the end he ends up with the same type of costume as the past FOUR years: the character from the Scream movies. He has two robes (because he outgrew one of them) and two masks.
This year I had the opportunity to choose a costume from Costume Express. When Hunter and I went through the website to look for costumes, guess where he started? Yep, he wanted to be another monster along the lines of the Scream character again!! Costume Express has quite a few different costumes that fit this description. Hunter ended up choosing the Howling Horror child costume. This one had a different color robe with white streaks going up and down. The mask is a little more detailed with blood around the eyes and outlining in black. We also chose the butcher knife since he really wanted to accesorize his look!
Oh my goodness. Once we had made the decision on the costume he wouldn’t leave the mailman alone! Everyday after school he would ask if his costume came and finally after a week and a half I had a ‘yes’ for him. The turnaround time from ordering to receiving was very fast.
I wasn’t sure about what size to order. Normally, he wears a size 10 but in the sizing chart there was a medium that was a size 8-10 or a large that was a size 10-12. I chose the 10-12. When he put the costume on it was a perfect fit! It didn’t drag on the ground or hang off of his shoulders, yet there was still plenty of room for him to wear extra clothing or a coat underneath. The mask was a little big but he has some breathing room while wearing it. Maybe next year he’ll choose something different but if it makes him happy then I’m game!
